We at the Student Association of George Brown College (SAGBC) express our deepest sympathies to those who have been affected by recent events in Turkey.
A 7.8-magnitude earthquake on Monday, February 6, has caused the death of thousands of people. This natural disaster has brought tragedy to the country, affecting the region, and causing great upheaval, with hundreds of people to losing their homes and thousands more being displaced.
The people of the region have not only weathered recent events, but they have also been victims of civil war in a neighbouring country, making it more difficult to support and meet humanitarian needs.
Words cannot fully express how we feel and we at the SAGBC are here to support the individuals and communities who were impacted by this calamity. We share your pain and recognize the difficulties associated with your losses. Know that you are not in this situation alone and have the support of the SAGBC and larger GBC community to get through this trying time.
We are one, and we stand with you.
